Windows 10 - install SVN 1.8 on PHPSTORM



This walks you through how to install SVN on PHPstorm

# 1 > SVN 1.6 / 1.7 ONLY

The easiest is to enable svn 1.6 / 1.7
-> In PHPstorm
-> File / Settings OR from the home screen Configure / Settings
-> Uncheck 'Use command line client'


# 3 > SVN 1.8 - unzip

Unzip the contents of the download to: -> C:/webroot/svn


# 4 > SVN 1.8 - Settings
  • Click on Settings (in PHPstorm)
    • home screen: Configure - Settings / File -> Settings
  • Navigate to Version Control / Subversion
  • We need to full path to svn.exe
    1. eg if you put the svn info c:/webroot/svn ->
    2. Then the path will be C:\webroot\svn\bin\svn.exe
    3. Enter that into 'Use command line client'

# 5 > Checkout

You can now checkout from SVN

  1. Click 'Check out from Version contron
    1. If you are already in the project view click: VCS - Checkout from version control - Subversion
  2. Add your repository
    1. Click the +
    2. Add: https://svn.undologic.com/updateCase.php
      1. If you only have access to a specific project enter the path to that specific project: 
        https://svn.undologic.com/updateCase.php/projectName
    3. Click the Arrow on the left to view all the files
    4. Find your base directory and select it (eg normally trunk)
    5. Click checkout

# 6 > Choose local directory

Navigate to the local directory where all your project files are:
-> We suggest: C:\webroot\_undoLogic
-> Click 'Ok'


# 7 > Match paths

Ensure you match the path 
-> Online should be similar to local

Ensure 'HEAD' is clicked
-> It is possible to choose an older version then the most current

Depth
-> Should be infinity

Keep include externals locations
-> Unless if you do not want to pull other svn projects linked to this one

Click 'OK'


# 8 > Select SVN version

Choose which SVN version you are using
-> We recommend using 1.8


# 9 > Wait for the files to checkout

Allow some time for all the files to checkout to your local computer


# 10 > Open project

Now that the files have download
-> Click 'Yes' to open the project in PHPstorm
